Summary The first paragraph should give a brief description of the article (topic) including the author, title, and topic: In this article “Why "20% Time" is Good for Schools”, it explains how many of us students are in school for so long each day, and we are not enjoying what we are doing. Simply because we are forced to take random classes, and not what we would like to learn about. Aj Juliana, the author of this article, explains very well by saying “ I want her generation to have opportunities to explore, analyze and create projects that have unique meaning to each of them. Instead of answering a multiple choice test on The Great Gatsby, why can't my daughter have the opportunity to write, collaborate, sing and produce a song that explains in detail the major themes of the story.” This really speaks to me. Its telling me that instead of being able to use our imagination and do these things our way, we are assigned one assignment and that’s our only option. This is why kids today do not enjoy school.
Personally, from experience I know how these kids feel. When summer was over this year I was so reluctant to come back, simply because I felt it was a waste of time. I’m not learning anything that is going to help me out with my future career, or anything that is simply enjoyable for me. So what is the point? I believe that 20 time is an excellent idea! It gives our next generation of kids a chance to actually enjoy school, also to do things more their way. The only bad thing I do see from this, is the lazy kids that don’t do their work now, most definitely won’t do it with 20 time.
My main goal for this trimester is just to have fun with it, to actually enjoy myself teaching these little kids and have fun with them. I will make it as fun for them as possible, and hopefully the learning can come from that. While teaching them, I can make them giggle, or relate it to maybe a fun game they like, just anything to keep them interested and paying attention. I understand that I’m going to be helping out with a kindergarten class, so it may be hard for them to stay focused, but that’s something I plan to focus on myself, how can we keep these little minds focused? I’m going to pay close attention to see details on what helps, and what doesn’t.
