This week has been the same as most. To start on monday i did kindergarten again with the guest teacher and same as tuesday except Mrs. was back. They had library time and all of them got very cute books that i remember when i was in elementary there. On wednesday i was in the fourth grade class, and i did alot of copying for the teacher, she actually showed me how to work the machine alot better, she showed me how to have packets come out of the machine already stapled which i thought was very cute. On thursday i was back in kindergarten where we did counting centers, and i actually got to do one on one with a student who was struggling a little, when he finally got it i felt so accomplished!! it was such a nice feeling, for my letter i think im going to ask the principal for a letter of recommendation, just because i know my kindergarten teacher has already wrote me one.

To start, my week has been very interesting to ay the least. I recieved an email asking if i could be at the kindergarten class all week because the teacher was going to be out. I said yes and was extactic!! Although, on monday i helped with the fourth graders and preparing a little booklet project. I agreed to be there on friday in the morning to help the guest teacher. When i got there all the kids looked so sleepy and calm! i couldnt even believe it. They were so active and interested in the lesson being taught, which i was very impressed by. We read a book together and they were practicing the "ap" family, which is what the book focused on, so when we were done they had to go through the book and underline all the "ap" words. The guest teacher decided to do centers in the morning, which one was an addition game where they roll the dice and whichever two numbers they got, they had to add up. They all did awesome and i was super impressed by that!! I ended up leaving around lunch time because the guest teacher said she was all set for the afternoon since we got centers done. I was there for around 4 hours! longer than ive ever been! Jason was an autistic boy who loved basketball and was on the basketball team, yet didnt play. On february 17th, they coach put him in the game expecting not so much from him, but just wanted to do the nice gesture, when jason pulled out a whopping 20 points!!!! everyone was so happy and couldnt believe it, he also touched a family at home who had an autistic 2 year old son, and they were both basketball coaches and loved the game, they said it gave them hope that some day their son could play, just as jason did. I yet, have never had a dream come true, but i feel its on the way! :)
If i have ever won that kind of money as high as the power ball was, i would give back by donating to a portion of charity's, so not just one, and not becoming a rich snob like most do. When people become rich, they often forget who they are, and i for one would never be that type of person. I would want to do my fair share of things though, such as travel and visit certain places of the world. Mainly i would want to explore Italy, Hawaii, and Paris. Just because i hear beautiful things about all those places, so id want to see for myself. Never would i forgot the important people in my life such as my mom, and a few select coworkers who have helped me through a lot. I'd most definitely give back to them. Depending on how much money it is, im not sure if i would fulfill college or not, honestly probably not because i would be smart and invest my money instead of spending it all, probably into a business of some sort that would hopefully be successful. I would probably still work at my job only a few days a week, because i truly do love it. Just not everyday. I could never lay around all day everyday, i would have to work at doing something.
This week has been very similar to last. In fourth grade i just pretty much helped with papers and getting this document ready that was going home to the parents for each child, other than that not much really. In kindergarten I had to do a little survey with them on this sheet on paper, it had boxes and it would say "i can count from 0 to 100" if they could, then they'd shade the box, if not then leave in unshaded. It was very cute and funny because at that age you think your capable of anything and everything so they'd all shout "BUT I REALLY CAN MS.AUTUMN" so i told them to count then, and they'd get stuck and be like but i really can. It was super cute and comical. I told them "its okay if you cant do something right now, thats why your at school so you can learn these things". Some were very honest with it, i loved that and i knew it kind of made them sad they couldn't do something but i always encouraged high spirits about it. The kindergarten kids have grown so much and its so neat for me to be able to watch it all, ive been with them since September and i couldn't be happier about it, this class is such a blessing for me. The video would not load because its YouTube and school blocks that, but the biggest problem i face is balancing everything. I go to school, work, and then you have social. The only day off i get in a week is Sunday. Its very tiring, especially when you leave school and then go to straight to work, then go home from their and have to go to bed and then the next morning its the same thing. I deal with this by making sure i get the right amount of sleep and resting time, because without it i wouldn't survive.
So this week i started the fourth grade class, as you know I am switching back and forth to fourth grade and kindergarten. Monday was my first day in the new class room. I noticed a lot of differences, the kids are much older, therefor they can control themselves better. They are still hyper, just not as much. I got to help a student with their math and i was puzzled at first. I understood the concept which was story problems, and multiplication, but the way they had to set the problem up, puzzled me. It kind of made it a little more complicated then it really was, and i can see how they could get confused easily with it. I can promise you that being late is the most sloppiest look possible, i will admit i can be about 5 minutes late to school, from time to time. On the other hand, i am NEVER late to this class, not only because its two streets over, just because I leave on time and always arrive on time. Also, i have been late to work 1 time in my year and 4 months of working there, and that was because of a doctors app that carried on, and I also called and let them know and was about 10 mins late. Calling off is also, not an option for me. Unless I am seriously sick i rarely call off. The most major point that stands out to me from this article is the dis respectfulness that applies to whoever you're being late on. It is beyond disrespectful, and does not give a nice impression on yourself.
My second week with the same class was very similar as the first, it's Christmas time and the last week, you know what that means!!! The children are more excited than ever with lots of fun projects we are doing! I even got to run my own station of making Rudolph. It was actually quite simple. All it took was a brown paper bag, a brown piece of paper, some glue, scissors, and markers! We had the kids trace their very own two hands and cut them out, after I'd glue them to the bag and they'd make Rudolphs face. It was so much fun and so cute!!! A lot were unsure of themselves and said "I need you to help me cut my hands out" but I said "no I think you can do it!" Even a few cut their finger off the paper hand, and had to try again, but got it a second time. This is a very good lesson for them to keep trying and never give up. I'm never so easy to give help, because most of the time it's not help its just you doing it for them. All the Rudolph's came out fabulous!!!
This week has been much like the last trimester! I was so happy to see all the kids and a few even said they missed me!! How cute. Since its Christmas time the kids are pumped and they are doing tons of cool projects! On Friday Mrs. Got plain gold Christmas ortiments and she dipped their tiny little fingers in white paint and made a snowman on them! Then she let them dry and let them go back and paint a scarf, hat, and others on there! Being 5, paint is pretty exciting! She made it a center in center time so they were all dieing to get to that center! Also, they made cards for their mom/dad or whoever and they were too cute! They sounded very excited to give the cards to them. I seen on Facebook this little girl who had a tragic accident and she was the only one who survived a fire out of her whole family. For Christmas, she wants people to send her cute Christmas cards. I thought it would be a great idea to have the kiddies color and draw her pictures and then mail them all to the address they gave us! I'm going to have to ask mrs. What she thinks! I'm very excited for this trimester and what it brings. I enjoy this class the most!!
This week was my last full week, and very interesting to say the least. Mrs. was out sick a few days, and I had to explain and show the subs how a lot of it works. The kids were surprisingly well behaved and very impressive. I got an email asking that i make sure all the papers are graded and filed, and that i still sent the kids out with their Friday folders for their parents. I felt very nice that she trusts me with the grading and with a responsibility like that. It put pressure on me, but i got it all done and i think very well. Also, a few of the students asked me to write notes to their parents reminding them of a fundraiser that was due on Monday, i had very big responsibility this week and it felt awesome!!! As for my letter of recommendation, she said very nice things. The one that really gave me the most confidence and really touched my heart, was when she said i stay later than my required time just to finish an assignment with the children, because i really truly do care. Her letter was so meaningful, and nice it truly made me want to do it even more.
This week I helped the kids with math to start. They all have little packets and with each number 1-10. For example, on number five, they have to draw 5 things such as stars, hearts, smiley faces, then they draw 5 tally's, next there are two boxes, one says +1, one says -1, so it'd be 6 & 4. Then they have to trace the number, and word. Alot of the kids needed my help, which i didn't mind, i actually really enjoy teaching them and they are so sweet it usually ends with "thanks your the best teacher ever" and it just feels nice. I surprisingly agree with James on the trophies situation, we can't keep raising these kids to be babies kind of situation. If you don't win, its not the end of the world its just more fuel to keep trying harder and really pursuing what you want. Just because you tried, doesn't mean it was good enough and we all know that. This world today is really cradling their kids and making them believe that they deserve trophies and prizes just for trying, which i don't understand, because its not the point of a trophie. The point is you don't always win, and you have to accept that, its life, we cant raise cry babies or they truly will never make it in the real world. Tough love is the best kind.
